Has anyone tried to roaste your own beans? I've been to a few sites that sell the supplies and raw beans. Don't know if it is worth it.

I have a friend who has managed a local retail roaster/coffee house for years. He has always roasted his own at home. He buys the "green" beans from work and then uses an old stainless steal skilett. He then roasts them on the stove top. His only caution is that you must constantly keep the beans moving around to obtain an even roast. Really he says it's pretty easy and costs very little, and you don't need any catalog bought special equipment.

Use to do it in the past, in the same manner a described in #2. The smell and taste is great. Used my friendliest smile with some people I knew at a small coffee company.
